Introductory Remarks

The very recent conversion of the famous Hank Hanegraaff (The Bible Answer Man) to the Eastern Orthodox¹ wing of Christianity has raised concerns and troubled the minds and hearts of many Fundamentalist Christians in the U.S.

Hanegraaff's exit from Protestantism (like that of the late Peter Gillquist)² will likely trigger the flight of many more in the same direction. And it was illustrative that Gillquist quit Evangelicalism as soon as it became clear to him that the prophecy scheme of a soon-coming Rapture, tribulation and Second Coming (upon which much of the impetus of evangelism was fueld) was patently false and totally contrived; Gillquist threw the towel down and walked right out of the door! Hanegraaff had himself spent years speaking out, like a voice in the wilderness, about the problems of fundamentalist eschatology.
