The One Who Gives Breath and Spirit

"Thus says God the Lord,
Who created the heavens and stretched them out,
Who spread forth the earth and that which comes from it,
Who gives breath to the people on it,
And spirit to those who walk on it.”—Isaiah 42:5 NKJV
This verse really stood out when I was reading Isaiah 42 recently.  The same God who created the heavens and the earth sustains our very life by giving us continually of His breath and spirit.  This theme starts in the Genesis record of creation and continues throughout the entire Bible.  The word “life” is used in our English Bibles over 500 times. In speaking of Jesus, the apostle John says, "In him was life, and the life was the light of men.”—John 1:4 ESV.
The scriptures testify of Jesus and so when we ponder them we are partaking of the very life of God Who sent His Son to give life to a dying world.  The Bible writers wrote under the “inspiration” of the Holy Spirit and this process involves an “in breathing” of the very life of God.  That is why the enemy of good does everything possible to keep us occupied with a lot of trivia and drama and we are slowing dying internally as a result.  Only the insanity of sin and the blindness it brings could deceive us to the extent that we cut ourselves off from the very life that we need continually.  I believe that if Jesus hadn’t come to earth that sinful humanity would have destroyed itself long ago.  "Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.”—2 Corintians 9:15 KJV
