"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.”—Philippians 4:6 NKJV
Chronic anxiety can destroy us physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. I’ve seen many people who had very precise religious beliefs and high ethical standards end up with serious degenerative diseases, especially cancer. Their strict patterns of thinking created fear and anxiety which brought them down. This has caused me to do a lot of careful heart searching for I tend to take both my beliefs and behavior seriously. I’ve learned that no matter how perfect I would like my beliefs to be they are still defective in the context of the perfection of the ultimate Kingdom of God. I’ve also learned that my best efforts to live righteously fall short and that Christ, my Surety and Substitute, is my righteousness before God. In Him I’m always perfect (see Ephesians 1:6).
